About Us

The Corcoran District Hospital (CDH) is a political subdivision of the state of California, organized under Local Health Care District Law, as set forth in the Health and Safety Code of the state of California. The Hospital opened on Jan 17th, 1949. The District operated a 32-bed acute care hospital and clinic located in Corcoran, California, that provided healthcare services to residents of the surrounding communities and visitors to the area. The District is governed by an elected Board of Directors whose members are from within the District.

During 2013, the District experienced several significant negative changes to its operations such as the state forcing a shutdown of the operating room, a greatly reduced level of service provided to the California prison system, and recurring losses in the emergency room. In March 2013, the emergency room was closed, and no new patients were admitted. These factors made the District fiscally unsustainable. Therefore, hospital operations ceased on Sept 30th, 2013.

The District maintains its financial records in conformity with guidelines set forth by the Local Health Care District Law and the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development of the state of California.

Following the voter approved measure of Nov 8th, 2016 , the CDH Board completed the sale of its assets to Adventist Health on March 29th 2018.

The CHD Board, after retiring existing debt and financial obligations, has now shifted its focus to supporting and enhancing health and wellness services in the community.
